What are visuals and how are they used?

Visuals are an image based guide or routine resource to help create clearer communication and understanding. You can use them for any area where you or someone you look after needs them, for example; daily picture routines are great for setting expectations, plans and relieving the anxiety of what comes next. 

What are the benefits of using visuals?

Visuals have lots of benefits! Visuals support clearer communication, grow understanding and promote independence. Having a visual to refer to takes away the need for repetitive verbal instructions/demands, we can process an image easier than spoken word. 

 How do you use a visual? 

For an changeable visual you place your chosen visual near where the task or routine would take place so maybe a bedtime routine would be on the bedrooom door or wall, then you place on your chosen image cards (each pack comes with a selection) in the order the tasks would be completed. Once a task is completed you can remove the image card to move on to the next one, or if you prefer you can leave the images in place and use the number guides at you way of following along the routine. The image cards are attached with velcro. 

Tip Letting the intended user chose where to place the visual and taking part in attaching and detaching the image cards encourages their engagement with the visual. 

Are the visuals durable?

All our visuals are produced on a sturdy waterproof material. Perfect for everyday use with kids tiny strong hands! Those WITHOUT velcro are dishwasher safe. Those WITH velcro you can wipe clean. The velcro is designed to be waterproof but is NOT DISHWASHER SAFE and should not be submerged in water.  All of our visuals have rounded corners so no need to worry about sharp edges!

How to I hang up my visual?

In our house we use blu tac, its perfect if you want to move the visual elsewhere or take with you to various rooms to work through all the steps. If you want to attach it to something magnetic we recommend using the strip magnetic tape and cut it to the length of the visuals sides. Magnetic tape will be safer than using smaller magnets, especially around kids.

Can I order a bigger selection of image cards?

Each visual comes with a variety of image cards, the products description will tell you exactly what you are getting, but we are working on introducing expansion packs in a variety of themes so you can personalise your visual even more! 

What makes our visuals different?

Our visuals are all digitally drawn and created by myself, these designs are only sold by me. The image cards are larger in size 60x60mm, with up to date illustrations so that they are easy to understand. I have taken colours into careful consideration so as not to overwhelm the user while still being attractive and fun. Each visual only has a certain amount of card placement options so as not to overload the user.  Our font has been carefully selected to support different needs ensuring it is easily readable.

How long does it take to receive my order?

We use Royal Mail 2nd class postage, Your parcel should arrive in 2-3 working days within the UK. If you haven't received your parcel within 7 days in the UK please contact us at helpfullittlepictures@gmail.com

for help. If you are outside the UK postage times will vary depending on your location, if you need any help with your delivery please contact us and we will help.
